Calling all Shared Reading Facilitators! If you’ve completed Read to Lead training, you can join Clare Ellis for this month’s special Masterclass on the art of storytelling.
‘The Storyteller: What makes a story read well aloud?’
1-5pm, Monday 22nd October
Exeter Central Library
What are the essential ingredients for a good short story? What story first captivated your imagination as a child? What do we want from a story as both readers and listeners? Come along to consider these questions and more with Clare by taking a closer look at the short story with a view to deepening our own understanding as to why some short stories work better than others in shared reading. Beginning with an exploration of the classic fairytale through to more contemporary manifestations of the genre, this Storytelling Masterclass will take you on some exciting journeys into the land of story.
Access to Masterclasses are available to everyone who has completed Read to Lead and aim to foster ongoing literary learning, deepening the understanding of what it means to be both a reader and a facilitator. Places are free for anyone who have completed Read to Lead in the past year, and cost £25 for those whose free year of CPD has expired.
There are still a few places left on October’s Masterclass: to reserve yours, contact Roisin Hyland on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0151 207 7207.
