TRO at the Guernsey Literary Festival

The Reader Organisation is hitting the Channel Islands for the Guernsey Literary Festival, 11th-15th September, and we have a pretty packed schedule!

Patrick and Anna, two of our Young Person’s Project Workers, will host the first ever Portable Ha’Penny Readings outside of Liverpool, entertaining nearly 1000 school children from years 5, 6, 7, and 8 over 4 different sessions. On the bill will be readings from A Little, Aloud for Children, guest authors, and local entertainers. Families can go along to the final fun-filled show in the iconic St James Concert and Assembly Hall on Saturday 15th September, 11am. Free tickets can be reserved from the Guernsey Literary Festival website.

They will also be running A Little, Aloud for Children outreach sessions, one in a care home and two with the mobile arts van which travels around entertaining local children.

Meanwhile, Sophie Povey, our Business Development Manager, will be active behind the scenes, hosting shared reading sessions for some of the festival sponsors, including Deloitte, CISX and Specsavers. They’ll be reading short stories and poems from A Little, Aloud and discovering how reading can be a great presence in the workplace.

Phew! It should be a great week; the festival has something for everyone, such as talks from leading authors, discussions and workshops – visit the website to find out more. We look forward to seeing some of you there!
