July’s Masterclasses

Calling all Shared Reading Facilitators!

July sees us providing not one, but two Masterclasses!

On 2nd July, Clare Ellis takes us on an inspiring journey through sea, stars and sky as she discusses the powerful works of John Masefield. Join Clare in London as she explores his hypnotic poem ‘Sea-Fever’ and examines why the mystery of the sea is something which seems to captivate the imagination of both young and old. This session will also raise the question of why literature of sea and travel in particular might work in a range of shared reading settings.

On 27th July, join Mary Weston in Exeter for a Focus on Mental Health Masterclass. This session is a chance to learn from each other, sharing experiences, problems, solutions, and finding texts to treasure. Mary will be there to provide a structure for the day, building around three areas that can often be problematic: partnership working, group dynamics, and issues concerning mental ill-health.

If you are interested in attending either of these Masterclasses, please email Roisin Hyland at roisinhyland@thereader.org.uk or telephone 0151 207 7207.

… and remember, if you have completed your Read to Lead training in the past 12 months then you have access to these Masterclasses for free, as part of your year-long Continuing Professional Development package. Don’t worry if your year is finished, as you can still attend Masterclasses for £25 per session.
